Pool Re-Opening

The Board understands that the Community pool is an important amenity to many of our residents. The Board is working diligently with Management to re-open the pool area as soon as we can. The new “Phase 2” plan adopted by the Governor did not include the opening of Public Pools at this time. Management has consulted with HOA Attorneys who have advised that HOA pools are permitted as public pools with the Orange County Health Department and must be treated the same as all other (currently closed) public pools in Orange County.

The Association must also adopt new Rules to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 at the pool area. This area is considered “High Risk” due to the use of pool furniture and the enclosed space of the pool restroom. The Association does not have the funds in the budget to provide constant monitoring of the pool area. These new Rules will inform residents of their responsibilities to comply with State and Local mandates for social distancing, limit the number of people using the pool area at one time, and to protect themselves from contact with surfaces.

The Board is currently working on these guidelines and completing pending projects at the pool, so that when public pools may be re-opened, we can do so with the safety of our owners and residents in mind. We are told that it is anticipated that pool re-opening will be a part of “Phase 3” of the State plan and that most industry experts think this will happen in June. Homeowners and residents will receive a copy of the new Rules and procedures in the mail prior to re-opening. If you have any questions, you may contact bsomers@keystonepacific.com.
